Motability

What is Motability and how does it work?

The standard lease is three years and payments are simply deducted from your mobility allowance every four weeks and paid directly to Motability Operations Ltd. by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Every lease is all inclusive, which means all of the running costs like insurance, servicing and maintenance are included in the price you pay.

At the end of your lease you have the option to simply hand your car back, or if like most customers you choose to stay with us, you can just pick a new car and begin another lease.

Disabled people can use their Higher Rate Mobility Component Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement to meet the cost of leasing a car. Once the application has been accepted, they pay all, or part of their allowance to Motability for the period of the agreement.

Customers can choose a new car every three years with insurance, road tax, servicing, tyres and breakdown cover all included. A wide range of adaptations are also available.

The Scheme is open to anyone who receives one of the following benefits, and has at least 12 months' award length remaining when they apply: Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement.

Our team at Shelly Motors is on hand to ensure that all the stresses of becoming mobile through Motability are taken care of, from initially choosing a Kia to suit your needs, to ensuring your complete satisfaction throughout the ownership of your vehicle.

Motability, the national charity (registered charity no: 299745), has overall responsibility for the Motability Scheme.
