The Kia EV6 has once again demonstrated its award-winning abilities at the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2024, being named both ‘Best Car for Families’ and ‘Best Car for Dog Owners’.
The Auto Trader New Car Awards are different from other car awards as the winners are not decided on by the opinions of industry insiders, but by the people whose opinion matters most: car owners. This year, over 200,000 UK car owners completed an online survey sharing exactly what they think of their car, with their thoughts and opinions (obtained from real-world experience) determining the winners of 20 of this year’s 23 award categories, including both of Kia’s award wins.
The Kia EV6, a now familiar model at the heart of Kia’s multi-award winning line up, was first launched in 2021 and was the first model to wear the new Kia badge, following Kia’s significant rebranding. Now more than three years old, the EV6 continues to scoop a multitude of awards from top-level UK, European and global publications.
With a real-world range of up to 328-miles on a single charge, space for five, ultra-fast charging capabilities and a comprehensive list of trim levels, the EV6 evidently impressed UK customers and owners with both its family-friendly and canine-compatible credentials, with owners nominating the EV6 for both major category award wins.
Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, commented on the EV6’s double-award win saying: “When it comes to the best car for families and dog owners, the Kia EV6 comes out on top with owners loving its effortless combination of practicality, technology, head turning looks and a great driving experience. As one owner commented: ‘It is so easy and enjoyable to drive. The car is very comfortable with everything you need easily accessible.’ Another stated that they loved their EV6 because of the ‘smoothness of driving experience an amazing interior space for passengers including four-legged friends’.”
At last year’s Auto Trader New Car Awards, Kia’s EVs also garnered similar success, with the Soul EV being named ‘Best Value Electric Car’, while the EV6 won Auto Trader’s coveted ‘New Car of the Year’ award.
The EV6 set the tone for Kia’s range of EVs in the UK, which will grow by one later in the year. As part of the brand’s ‘Plan S’ strategy, Kia will have launched 15 EVs globally by 2027, nine of which will be coming to the UK. Having commenced with the EV6, followed by the EV9 last year, the EV3 will make its way to the UK later this year; hoping to follow in the footsteps of its decorated larger siblings.
