KIA EV6 GT DOES THE BUSINESS AT NEWS UK MOTOR AWARDS 2023

  • Kia EV6 GT named Company Car of the Year at News UK Motor Awards 2023
  • Kia’s flagship electric GT recognised for its power and performance – and its rapid-charging and ultra-low running costs
  • News UK Motor Awards curated by journalists and editors from The Sun, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk and Times Luxx magazine

The Kia EV6 GT has been named ‘Company Car of the Year’ at the News UK Motor Awards 2023.

Kia’s flagship electric grand tourer was recognised by judges for its blend of high performance, long driving range, ultra-fast charging times, and zero-emissions capabilities.

The News UK Motor Awards are curated by motoring journalists and editors from across News UK’s portfolio of media titles: The Sun, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, and Times Luxx magazine.

Nick Rufford, motoring editor at The Sunday Times, commented: “Strap yourself in and prepare for take-off. With a 0-62mph time of 3.5sec the EV6 GT must be a contender for quickest rep-mobile on the road. At a high-speed charger it’ll refill in as little time as it takes to grab a coffee. Benefit in kind (BIK) tax is lower than petrol and diesel cars, hence it winning Company Car of the Year 2023.”

The EV6 GT is powered by a fully electric dual-motor, all-wheel drive system, producing 577bhp and 740Nm torque. While company car drivers can’t explore its 162mph top speed on UK public roads, they can at least enjoy its true grand touring potential. Its 800V ultra-fast charging system enables the car to recharge from 10-to-80 per cent when plugged into a 350kW charger, and it’s capable of an impressive 263-mile driving range between charges (WLTP, combined cycle). A BIK rate of just 2% in the 2023/24 tax year ensures the EV6 GT is a compelling option for company car drivers looking for GT performance at a low operating cost.

The EV6 GT and EV6 are just two models within an expanding line-up of Kia EVs. Kia also offers the Niro EV and Soul EV for sale, and UK deliveries of the all-new EV9 – a three-row flagship SUV – will also commence in January 2024. Globally, Kia plans to offer a line-up of 15 fully electric vehicles by 2027.
