Kia EV4 awarded five-star Euro NCAP safety rating

  • Highest safety rating achieved for the Kia EV4 and EV4 Fastback in Euro NCAP safety tests
  • The EV4 is Kia’s first all‑electric model manufactured in Europe and has been shortlisted for the 2026 Car of the Year (COTY) award

The Kia EV4 has been awarded the highest safety rating following extensive testing by Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent safety testing organisation. The EV4 achieved the maximum five-star rating.

The EV4 was assessed in four categories and performed to a high standard throughout the test process. The vehicle achieved 84% for ‘Adult Occupant Protection’, 85% for ‘Child Occupant Protection’, 77% for ‘Vulnerable Road User Protection’, and 78% for ‘Safety Assist’.

Euro NCAP praised the EV4 for maintaining a stable passenger compartment in frontal tests and gave the model maximum points in side-impact assessments. It was noted that child protection was comparably strong with the model supporting a full range of child restraint installations. The EV4 also provides good or adequate head, leg, and pelvis protection, as well as an AEB system that responded well to cyclists and motorcyclists.

Kia EV4 awarded five-star Euro NCAP safety rating

“The five‑star Euro NCAP rating for the EV4 underscores Kia’s unwavering commitment to safety, innovation, and meeting the expectations of European drivers” said Pablo Martínez Masip, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Kia Europe. “Following the maximum Euro NCAP scores achieved by the EV5, EV3, and PV5 Cargo earlier this year, the five‑star result for the EV4 further strengthens Kia’s reputation for delivering reliable, safe, and high‑quality vehicles.”

Built for Europe, in Europe

The EV4 is Kia’s first EV produced in Europe, assembled at the company’s plant in Slovakia. Thanks to its Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the model offers all-electric ranges of up to 388 miles for the hatchback and 380 miles for the Fastback.

The EV4 comes in two battery options, 58.3kWh and 81.4kWh, and is capable of fast charging from 10-to-80% in 31 minutes.

European engineers at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre (HMETC) fine-tuned the chassis for confident handling, precise cornering, and comfortable long-distance travel.

A finalist for 2026 Car of the Year

The EV4 has also been shortlisted for the prestigious 2026 Car of the Year (COTY) award. Selected by 60 jurors from 23 countries, the model is one of just seven finalists from an initial list of 35 models. The marks Kia’s fifth consecutive appearance in the COTY shortlist.
