The Kia EV4 has been named ‘Best Medium Car’ at The Car Expert Awards 2026. One of the many new vehicles launched by Kia in 2025, the EV4 marks the brand’s first entry into the popular electric hatchback market, offered as a five-door hatchback, or a sleek four-door ‘Fastback’.
The Car Expert Awards are calculated using its ‘Expert Rating Index’, an algorithm which aggregates new car reviews from 35 of the UK’s top motoring titles. An overall score is then attributed to each new car, with the consensus of the UK’s leading automotive titles accurately reflected based on media reviews.
Stuart Masson, Editorial Director, The Car Expert: “The all-new Kia EV4 is another knockout electric model from Kia, and continues the brand’s determination to challenge in every sector with its signature combination of striking design and advanced technology.
“The EV4 brings much-needed new inspiration to the mid-sized car category, and is a fresh alternative to the endless sea of SUVs and crossovers. Available in a space-age fastback design or slightly more conventional five-door hatchback, it offers buyers a comfortable ride with driving dynamics that are a cut above the class average.
“Kia is very much establishing itself as one of the leading lights of the EV revolution, and the new EV4 will only enhance that reputation.”
The Kia EV4 is one of the latest in a line-up of highly decorated fully electric vehicles from Kia, following in the footsteps of its crossover-SUV sibling, the EV3. Thanks to its streamlined shape, the EV4 also offers the longest range of any Kia EV to date, with up to 388 miles on a single charge (‘Air’ 81.4kWh). The vehicle is available in an easy-to-understand three-tier model walk-up to buyers in the UK: ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’, each generously equipped as standard.
The EV4 is not the first of Kia’s line-up to achieve success at the annual Car Expert Awards. Last year, the EV9 was named ‘Best Premium Large Car’, whilst the EV3 scooped ‘Best Small Crossover’ and overall ‘Car of the Year’.
Despite having had one of the busiest years in the brand’s history, Kia has no intentions of slowing down in 2026 and will kickstart the year with a bang. The hotly-anticipated Kia EV2 will be unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show on 9 January 2026, along with hot ‘GT’ variants of the Kia EV3, EV4 and EV5.
