Kia EV2 achieves the best real-world performance among compact and mid-size cars in NAF Summer El Prix EV Test

  • The Kia EV2 standard-range with a 42.2kWh battery delivers 325km of range (12.4kWh/100km) at the world’s largest independent EV test
  • Achieving 105% of its WLTP range, the EV2 outperforms all the other four- and five-seat electric cars tested by Norwegian Automobile Federation
  • The EV2 long-range ‘GT-Line’ prototype achieved 428km - 102% of its WLTP range - reinforcing its strong performance in NAF Winter El Prix EV Test
  • Results from the NAF test confirm Kia EV2’s strong real world usability and outstanding reliability for both everyday use and longer holiday journeys

The Kia EV2 has demonstrated outstanding real-world performance and efficiency at the NAF El Prix Summer Test, the world’s largest independent EV test conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor.

In the Summer El Prix EV Test, held on 3 June in Oslo, the Kia EV2 standard-range with a 42.2kWh battery delivered 325km of range - 17km above its WLTP combined value of 308km - exceeding 105% of its official figure. This result ranked the EV2 first among all compact and mid-size electric vehicles tested, confirming its class leading real world efficiency.

Under the same conditions - dry roads and temperatures between 12 and 18°C - the long-range EV2 ‘GT-Line’ prototype*, equipped with a 61.0kWh battery pack and with 19-inch wheels, achieved 428km, exceeding its 418km target range and reaching more than 102% of its expected WLTP combined figure. It outperformed most vehicles in the test, with an average energy consumption of 12.4kWh/100km.

“Achieving the best real world performance among compact and mid-size in the NAF Summer El Prix EV Test is a strong validation of EV2’s customer focused engineering,” said Pablo Martinez Masip, Vice President Product, Marketing & Customer Experience of Kia Europe. “By exceeding 105% of its WLTP range, EV2 clearly demonstrates outstanding efficiency and reliability. These independent results confirm that EV2 is designed around real customer needs - delivering dependable everyday usability while giving drivers the confidence to travel further, whether on daily commutes or longer holiday journeys.”

These results reinforce EV2’s strong performance in the NAF Winter Test earlier this year, when the EV2 ‘GT-Line’ long-range prototype covered 310.6km in the coldest edition on record. Together, they highlight the model’s consistent and reliable performance across different powertrain configurations.

Held in both winter and summer, the NAF El Prix Test evaluates all EV models under identical real-world driving and charging conditions, to provide customers with reliable data. These benchmark setting results demonstrate that the EV2 is fully capable in real world driving, from urban mobility to longer journeys.

Leading the transition in Europe

The Kia EV2 is a fully electric B-segment SUV and the brand’s most compact electric vehicle to date. It is designed to serve as a primary household vehicle, targeting one of Europe’s highest volume segments. The EV2 is engineered to deliver strong real world usability and efficiency, with predictable performance and everyday reliability.

Both battery options operate on a 400V architecture. Under optimal conditions, DC fast charging from 10-to-80% takes 29 minutes for the standard-range version and around 30 minutes for the long-range model. Through Kia Charge, customers can access over one million charging points across 27 European countries.

The EV2 is Kia’s second dedicated electric model to be produced at Kia AutoLand Slovakia in Žilina. The 42.2kWh standard-range version is currently in production, with the 61.0kWh long-range and ‘GT-Line’ variants following from June 2026.
