Kia UK is proud to announce the EV4 as its first model available with the maximum Band 1 Government Electric Car Grant (ECG), upping the discount from £1,500 to £3,750 for the ‘Air’ and ‘Motion’ grades.
Kia is proud to announce the EV4 as its first model that qualifies for the maximum Band 1 Electric Car Grant, reducing the vehicle’s on-the-road price by £3,750. This new grant applies to the same grades of EV4 that were previously named among Kia’s first vehicles to receive any ECG support, announced in December 2025. This includes the EV4 ‘Air’ Standard Range and Long Range, and the newly introduced EV4 ‘Motion’ grade.
Consequently, including the grant the EV4 range is now available from £30,995 on-the-road, for the entry-grade ‘Air’ with Standard Range (58.3kWh) battery.
The EV4 model’s new maximum grant status does not affect the ‘GT-Line’ or ‘GT-Line S’ grades. The EV4 continues to benefit from Kia’s generous Q2 customer offers [1], with Kia’s fully electric models currently available with 3.9% APR finance offers, and no minimum customer deposit [2]. Furthermore, the EV4 ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ continue to receive a £3,000 finance deposit contribution (FDC) [3].
Alongside the EV4 ‘Air’, the EV4 ‘Motion’ also qualifies for the Government Electric Car Grant, reducing the on-the-road cost by £3,750.
Sitting between ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’, the new EV4 ‘Motion’ grade delivers a high specification with key highlights including: an 8-speaker Harmon Kardon® premium sound system, unique cloth and artificial leather upholstery, outer rear heated seats, surround view monitor, blind-spot view monitor and electric driver’s seat and lumbar support. Like most grades of EV4, the ‘Motion’ is powered by a 201bhp front-mounted electric motor and 81.4kWh battery.
The EV4 ‘Motion’ receives the same 17-inch alloy wheels and exterior details as the ‘Air’ variant, including body-coloured door mirrors and side sills as well as black wheel arches and silver window surround.
The Kia EV4 ‘Motion’ is available to order now, priced from £36,745 on-the-road, including the £3,750 Electric Car Grant. The ‘Motion’ trim level will not be offered on the EV4 Fastback line-up and is available exclusively as a five-door hatchback, manufactured at the brand’s Žilina production plant in Slovakia.
With this latest news, Kia is now able to offer four models with the Electric Car Grant – the Kia EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger – enabling more retail and fleet customers to go electric. Each of these models are available to order now at Kia dealerships across the UK, and PBV Centres for the PV5 Passenger. Kia will announce further ECG news in the coming months, with EV2 Long Range models expected to qualify for the Band 1 £3,750 ECG following inclusion of the EV2 ‘First Edition’ qualifying for the Band 2 grant in May.

The UK Government’s Electric Car Grant is exclusively available to electric cars adhering to a strict minimum criteria covering emissions, range, sustainability and warranty support. The ECG criteria requires a manufacturer to have SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) verification, which sets greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below damaging levels, and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest.
Kia will have introduced 15 EV models and 10 HEV models by 2030, while all Kia manufacturing sites will be powered by 100% renewable energy by 2040. The company is pursuing multiple global initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire product lifecycle by 2045, including achieving RE100, conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for all vehicle models, and strengthening its electrification strategy.
